Mesotherapy is a proven way to maintain youthful skin or turn the clock back on aging. This simple treatment plumps, repairs, brightens, and stimulates new collagen without changing the structure of your face or affecting muscle movement.
The effects of Mesotherapy are deeper, longer-lasting, and more restorative than the most powerful topical treatments. With regular maintenance, you can banish dark circles, sunspots, uneven skin tone, wrinkles, and other signs of aging.
What is Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy, also known as a skin booster, is an injectable treatment that deeply moisturizes your skin and stimulates collagen production. Mesotherapy can reduce the look of dark under eye circles, puffy eyes, pigmentation, sunspots, wrinkles, and other concerns. This treatment is a highly-effective way to slow the aging process before it starts, or to rejuvenate skin that’s already begun to show signs of aging.
How does Mesotherapy work?
When you get a Mesotherapy treatment, a cocktail of skin-loving ingredients is injected below the skin’s top layer. Unlike a moisturizer or serum, ingredients bypass the skin’s outer barrier and go directly where they’re most effective. Mesotherapy hydrates from within while plumping, smoothing, brightening, and softening fine lines.
What’s in a Mesotherapy cocktail?
Mesotherapy treatments, like TEYOSAL Redensity, come in a hyaluronic acid base and contain a mix of vitamins, minerals, plant extracts, and amino acids—ingredients that fight the signs of aging.
Mesotherapy can also be mixed with a small amount of Botox, which will help to shrink pores, control oil production and breakouts, including acne breakouts. It will give an immediate and long lasting glowing effect. MesoBotox contains Mesotherapy ingredients along with a small amount of diluted Botox. Unlike traditional Botox treatments, which are injected into facial muscles, MesoBotox is injected into the deeper layers of the skin. This results in immediately smooth skin, smaller pores, improved texture, and more.
Who is a good candidate for Mesotherapy?
Mesotherapy is best suited to younger skin, but also has benefits if your skin is showing more advanced signs of aging. If you start early enough, Mesotherapy is highly effective at preventing aging.
What areas do you typically treat?
We offer Mesotherapy for the face, neck, chest, decollete, and hands. These are the areas that show signs of aging first. When you have a Mesotherapy treatment, we recommend having all these areas treated at the same time.
For Mesotherapy around the eyes, we use a product called Mesoeye. This product is specially formulated for the delicate skin around the eyes, Mesoeye reduces dark circles, minor wrinkles, and puffy skin, while plumping and firming. Mesoeye is approved for use with Botox.
Is Mesotherapy safe?
As with any medical procedure, lip fillers are safe provided they’re injected by a licensed professional. Along with your specialist, you should always take the following steps to ensure the safety of your treatment:
- Have your Mesotherapy done in a medical setting with proper equipment and sterilization.
- Do your research. Inexpensive products treatments are usually too good to be true.
- Be sure to use a brand name, FDA-approved product. Mesotherapy products should always come unopened, in properly labeled syringes.
- Ask about the ingredients and make sure you don’t have any allergies.
When will I see results?
You will see some results immediately after treatment. Most patients say their skin feels smoother and looks plumper. It can take up to 3 months to see the full effect of Mesotherapy, but you will gradually notice your moisturizer lasting longer throughout the day, an increased glow, and diminished pores and fine lines. Say goodbye to dark circles, puffy eyes, crepey skin, pigmentation, sun spots, and wrinkles.
Before your treatment
Before your treatment, you’ll meet with me for a free consultation. I’ll get to know you and your medical history to determine which treatment is the right option for you. We’ll discuss the area(s) you wish to have treated and answer any questions you may have.
Mesotherapy may react with some medications, supplements, and skincare products. Don’t use the following for at least a week before your appointment:
Aspirin, blood thinners, Gingko Biloba, Ginseng, Ibuprofen, Omega-3 fatty acids, St John’s Wort, and Vitamin E, “anti-aging” products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, and Glycolic Acid.
You should also avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or hair removal cream on the treatment area for 3 days before your appointment.
You should not receive this treatment if you already have dermal fillers or implants, or if you are sensitive to hyaluronic acid or the Mesotherapy additives. I am happy to discuss the ingredients in all of our products.
What to expect during your Mesotherapy treatment
Mesotherapy treatments are quick and easy. The average treatment takes about 15 minutes.
- First we’ll review the treatment areas we discussed in your consultation
- I will offer ice or numbing cream if you’re concerned about pain at the injection site.
- I’ll clean and mark the treatment area,
- I’ll use a micro needle or injection gun to inject the treatment into the desired areas.
- You’ll check out the results to make sure they’re what you wanted! Remember that you’ll be a bit swollen.
- Don’t forget the follow up appointment. Come back 10-14 days after treatment to make sure you look just as you wanted.
After your Mesotherapy injections, you should:
• Avoid alcohol, Aspirin, and Vitamin E for at least 24 hours
• Avoid other cosmetic treatments like peels, lasers, or waxing for at least 24 hours
• Avoid vigorous exercise, saunas, or steam rooms for 24 hours
• Stay out of the sun until any redness and swelling subside
• Avoid makeup for the first day after treatment. If you absolutely must wear makeup, apply mineral makeup with a clean brush.
Your skin’s natural defenses against the sun are not as strong for a few weeks after treatment. We urge the daily use of SPF 50 after treatment. If you’re uncomfortable after your treatment, you can Acetaminophen/Ibuprofen, and apply a cold compress — but don’t apply too much pressure! Arnica supplements may help reduce swelling.
What’s the downtime after Mesotherapy?
There’s a little bit of downtime after getting Mesotherapy. You will likely experience some redness and minor swelling immediately after your treatment, and you should not use makeup on the treatment areas for at least 12 hours.
Side effects should go away within one to two days. We recommend allowing at least a week to fully recover, so if you have a big event, keep this in mind.
The side effects associated with skin boosters are very mild and usually subside in one to two days. Side effects include: redness, bruising, and swelling. Some people also experience tenderness or itching at the injection site. These side effects usually go away on their own a few days after treatment.
Some people experience lumpiness at the injection site, which is easily fixed by gently massaging the treatment area.
If you experience severe pain, blanching of the skin, or any other serious issues after treatment, contact your doctor (and injector!) immediately.
To maintain the results, you’ll need 3 to 6 treatments a year, about 1 month apart. For under-eye mesotherapy, we recommend scheduling your treatments 1 week apart.
The hyaluronic acid in the boosters breaks down completely over a period of months, so continuous treatments are required. Because these treatments stimulate collagen production, you may need less-frequent treatments over time. Younger patients will need fewer treatments in a year.
The cost of Mesotherapy ranges from $350-$450 per treatment, depending on the size and number of treatment areas.
The bottom line
Mesotherapy is a simple, proven, highly effective way to renew or maintain your skin’s health—regardless of your age. And with regular maintenance, you can significantly delay the signs of aging.
